Hailee Steinfeld Joins Aca-mazing Cast Of ‘Pitch Perfect 2’
Actress Hailee Steinfeld, who recently starred in the films Romeo & Juliet and Ender’s Game, has officially joined the a capella cast of Pitch Perfect 2. Steinfeld, who is 17-years-old, tweeted the news to her fans on Wednesday, expressing her excitement in joining Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick. According to Variety, actress Brittany Snow will also be returning for the second film.

Steinfeld, who is currently filming Ten Thousand Saints with Ender’s Game co-star Asa Butterfield in New York, has had a busy schedule of late, heading from one set to another as she takes on role after role following her smashing debut as Mattie Ross in 2010’s True Grit. Steinfeld earned an Academy Award nomination for the role for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
There are no details available on what Hailee’s role in Pitch Perfect 2 will be yet, but Steinfeld is the first new high profile star to be added to the cast list so far. Details about the film have been sparse, other than the fact that the cast of the first film will be graduating seniors instead of incoming freshman. Since Hailee Steinfeld is 17-years-old, could this mean she’s the fresh new blood being brought into the Bella fold as Beca and Fat Amy head off into the sunset?
Hailee won’t be the only debut on the sequel, actress Elizabeth Banks is reportedly making her directorial debut with the film. “I’m really excited to direct the girls,” she told The Huffington Post in February. “The whole project speaks so much to me and to women and to making women funny in really fun and interesting ways and that’s what I’m most looking forward to. I’m looking forward to letting the girls let loose.”
Writer Kay Cannon, who wrote the first film, will also be returning to write the script for the sequel.
Pitch Perfect 2 will reportedly be filming in Baton Rogue, Louisiana, marking a return to the state for Hailee Steinfeld, who filmed Ender’s Game in New Orleans in 2012.
Back in 2012, Pitch Perfect was everyone’s favorite new musical comedy, eventually becoming the second highest grossing musical comedy behind School of Rock. The soundtrack went on to sell over one million copies and Anna Kendrick’s single ‘Cups’ went on to become the actress’ first Billboard Top 10 single.
