Amanda Seyfried To Play Wendy’s Mom In Joe Wright’s Peter Pan Movie

Amanda Seyfried is the latest famous face to sign on for Peter Pan’s latest cinematic adventure.

Pride & Prejudice director Joe Wright is extremely busy working on Pan, a live-action interpretation of the classic tale starring Rooney Mara (Tiger Lily), Hugh Jackman (Blackbeard), and Garrett Hedlund (Hook). Levi Miller, who had small roles in A Heartbeat Away and the television series Terra Nova, will tackle the title role.

According to Us Weekly, Mean Girls alum Amanda Seyfried will portray Wendy Darling’s mom in the upcoming flick. For those folks who still think of Seyfried as ditzy Karen Smith, the fact that she’s playing someone’s mother probably makes them feel a little ancient right about now.

Amanda Seyfried isn’t the only person to join Joe Wright’s Pan in recent days. The Telegraph points out that model and frequent tabloid fodder Cara Delevingne will tackle a small role in the movie as well. Delevingne previously worked with the filmmaker on 2012 adaptation of Anna Karenina.

Set during World War II, the latest take on Peter Pan follows the adventures of an orphan who is kidnapped by Blackbeard and smuggled into Neverland. Adventures and shenanigans should promptly ensue. According to Entertainment Weekly, production on the flick started just a few days ago. Unless something major happens along the way, the movie will hit theaters on July 17, 2015. As if moviegoers didn’t have enough to spend their money on next year.

Of course, this isn’t the only big movie Amanda Seyfried has in the works. The Inquisitr previously reported that the actress will star opposite Seth MacFarlane in the upcoming Ted sequel. Apparently Seyfried will replace Mila Kunis in the follow-up, though it’s still unclear how the Family Guy creator intends to work her into the story.

Amanda and Seth recently joined forces for the upcoming western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West. The flick, which also stars Charlize Theron and Liam Neeson, is presently scheduled to hit the big screen on May 30. Fans can also catch Amanda Seyfried opposite Rebel Wilson in filmmaker Jake Szymanski’s feature-length debut The Social Life. The busy actress is also attached to Gabriele Muccino’s Faughters and Daughters and writer-director Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young with Ben Stiller.
