‘Grease’ Live Musical Is Coming To Fox In 2015

Looks like people “better shape up” because the new generation “needs a revival” of a classic cherished among many fans! Fox will be bringing Grease Live in 2015. This should give plenty of people enough time to practice their hand jives!

According to E!, Fox is jumping on the live special bandwagon after the success of Sound of Music Live! that aired on NBC last year. Grease Live is set to be aired in a three-hour broadcast. Fox president, Kevin Reilly, announced the news of the production on Monday. Grease Live was given certain details, such as its airing in 2015 although a specific time frame within the year was not established. Grease Live will also feature a young ensemble of stars who will introduce viewers – both hardcore fans and newbies to the musical story – to the songs and characters of the 1971 Broadway musical.

Though Grease Live is probably following the play, it is the 1978 movie adaption that most people remember when it comes to Grease. The movie was such a success that it actually catapulted John Travolta’s career along with Saturday Night Fever.

In another report by Deadline, Grease Live will feature some of the musical’s iconic songs, such as Greast Lightnin’, You’re the One That I Want, and of course Summer Nights. However, Grease Live will also reimagine some of the most memorable T-Bird and Pink Lady characters.

As for all the other details in general, Shana C. Waterman, Fox’s senior vice persident of event series, said in a statement:

“From Broadway to film, and across generations, Grease is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told – and we can’t wait to bring it to our air in a spectacular live event. Its iconic characters and addictive songs make it the perfect fit for Fox, and we’re going to give it the kind of star power and production quality to make every Sandy, Danny, Rizzo and Kenickie out there want to get up and sing along.”

Right now, only preliminaries have been announced. Grease Live only has production details announced. Nothing on cast yet, but fans are actually discussing which musical stars, such as Zac Efron and Daniel Radcliffe, would be excellent additions to the live production. In the comments below, who do you think would be perfect for Grease Live?

While contemplating on the new cast, below is a video of when John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John came together to perform You’re the One That I Want back in 2012.
