New Video Game Releases for the Week of April 27, 2014

Of all the new video game releases for the week of April 27, Child of Light can be safely said to have the most hype building behind it. The Ubisoft developed role playing game for current and next gen consoles has a lot of heavy weight talent behind it including Far Cry 3 creative director Patrick Plourde, and manga artist Yoshitaka Amano who is known for his character design work on Final Fantasy, has dedicated some his time to produce material for the new video game. Child of Light is a game made by a small team at a very large publisher and is heavily inspired by Japanese RPG’s both in artwork and mechanics.

Another new video game release might not be released at all. The Amazing Spider Man 2 is scheduled to be released on every console except the Xbox One. Rumors have been circulated that the game has been canceled for the console which has been the subject of much ire due to the struggle to reach to the 1080p rendering mark that its competitor, the PlayStation 4, is reaching with relative ease. According to Eurogamer there is still no reason for the clay but that Activision is still hoping to release the game while the versions for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC will release on May 2nd as planned.

Abyss is another indie title getting some exposure on the Nintendo Wii U. Originally released as a downloadable game for the Nintendo DSi, the game has been given the HD treatment as well as additional levels to give the game more ‘depth.”

Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Mario Golf: World Tour round out the Nintendo offerings for the week on on the Nintendo 3DS handheld.

PlayStation Plus members will also be able to pick up Stick It to the Man! for free starting on April 1st when the game releases on all current PlayStation platforms as part of the PS Plus service.
