Facebook launches Facebook Connect Plugin Directory

facebook connect plugin directory

The war between Google and Facebook over social connections continues with a new salvo from Facebook: the Facebook Connect Plugin Directory.

The new directory offers Facebook Connect plugins for a numbers of blogging platforms, and a variety of services.

As well as plugins that integrate Facebook logins with commenting and administrative logins, a MyBlogLog style widget is also offered. Of the commenting 2.0 services, Disqus is the first to support Facebook logins with a separate announcement here.

As a blog owner I have to say at this stage that what Facebook is offering is a whole lot more appealing than Google’s Friend Connect. Besides its open nature and already thriving third party support, more people use Facebook for social connections than will ever use Google, so it’s a strong selling point.
