Michael Vick, Nike Partner Up Once Again in a 4 Year Deal

In a remarkable move, Nike, which ended Michael Vick’s contract in 2007 after he admitted to his involvement in a dogfighting ring, has re-signed the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback.
“We have re-signed Michael Vick as a Nike athlete,” spokesman Derek Kent said Friday. “Michael acknowledges his past mistakes. We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”
Vick, the 31-year-old gifted athlete, who at one point in time was the highest-paid player in the National Football League, spent 21 months in prison for his actions, leaving him in financial ruin upon his release in July of 2009.
In 2010 Vick was named the starting quarterback for the Eagles over Kevin Kolb.. He went on to dominate, throwing for 3,018 yards and 21 touchdowns over the course of the season. For his spectacular play in 2010, Michael Vick was named NFL’s Comeback Player of the year by the Associated Press.
At this time the financial details of the new four year pact – the third endorsement deal Vick has signed since his return to the NFL in 2009 – deal are unknown.
What are your thoughts on the new Nike/Vick contract?

Hope all the Nike gains from this is a loss in business and a bad reputation. Nike free life for me!

Ok, fine, people can show positive advances change their characters to suit the public eye, but tell me this. Can the dogs he butchered reclaim their lives…Nike is permanently off my list of things to buy, as os their other companies they share in.

This is a sports deal for an athlete it has nothing to do with his personal life or actions and saying your not going to buy nike because they support the play of one of the most exciting players to ever play the game is ridiculous..

The character of the company shows by the characters (Michael Vick and Tiger Woods) they endorse.

Is the new Nike/Vick 4-year contract a good PR move for either or both parties? Can fans get over Vick’s past and be able to support both partners?

Will never again purchase another Nike product. Nice representation for them, an animal abuser and killer. Could they not have found a better freaking roll model for people!
