Jamie Dornan Doesn’t Want ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Jobs Forever

By now, you may know Jamie Dornan — he’s the upcoming star of the controversial film Fifty Shades of Grey. The casting of his character, Christian Grey, who’s a BDSM enthusiast, has been discussed at length since Dornan replaced Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam in the coveted role.

Although the film has yet to be seen and fans of the book series are still waiting to give Jamie the stamp of approval, it sounds like Dornan is already a bit exhausted from taking on a wildly popular role.

Even though Dornan is grateful for the role in Fifty Shades of Grey, it seems like he could take or leave whatever stardom comes after the film is released on Valentine’s Day of 2015.

During an interview with the Guardian UK, he told the publication that the year has been “a mad year, professionally, personally.” The Irish actor said of his unique position in acting now that he finished what’s said to be a blockbuster hit.

“Right now I don’t need to work if there’s nothing that I want to do. I’ve done three jobs back to back. Let’s see how they are received. If there’s nothing I want to do, I’ll just play golf and change [diapers].”

Of his role in Fifty Shades of Grey, Dornan noted that he did learn a thing or two in the bedroom but he’s also looking to get away from similar material.

“There are a couple of classic knots I know now, and I’ve put them to good use far too many times recently. In fact I’d like to do a job where I don’t have to tie women to beds.”

In another interview, Dornan seemed to mirror his comments about fame.

“Nobody sane wants just to be famous. I hate it when people say you’re asking for it by doing films.”

At the time he referenced his previous romance with actress Keira Knightley to compare his dealings with fame.

“Being with Keira was an insight into how rotten the whole thing can be. A young girl is being followed around the street, there is nothing positive to say about that.”

As previously reported, Jamie Dornan did take his role seriously, or as seriously as he could, as he prepared for the film. In order to gear himself up for steamy sex scenes, the Fifty Shades of Grey actor, told the UK tabloid The Sun that he watched Sex And The City.

“Joe (Dempsie) and I watched all the Sex and the City box sets. That helped…We had a ball, it was a good fun.”

There’s no doubt that Jamie Dornan will be able to find other work outside of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise.
