Ohio Woman Discovers Bird Leg In Her Packet Of Dole Spinach!

Body parts of animals is the last thing you would expect in a bag of packaged food. But that is exactly what Rose Carducci found inside the bag of Dole Spinach when she ordered her groceries from Buehler’s last Monday. According to WEWS News Channel 5, the 28-year-old Wadsworth woman who has a staple diet consisting of spinach and smoothies made this nauseating discovery inside an unopened bag of Dole spinach. “As I started looking some more, I saw what looked like nails, like talons and realized, ‘Oh my Gosh, this is part of a bird and was horrified.” Carducci told WEWS.

Rose Cadrucci, a mother of two had ordered her groceries online from Buehler’s in Wadsworth last week, which was delivered to her before the end of the weekday. She made the shocking discovery inside the Dole spinach pack as she was preparing to open the bag. Her immediate response was to alert Dave Cleckner, Buehler’s manager about the same who in turn contacted his wholesaler located in Indiana. Cleckner confirmed that store workers inspected other Dole spinach products and found nothing of this sort inside. “It definitely was a concern for us, so that’s why we looked at our product. We did not find anything on our end,” Cleckner was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Rose Carducci also contacted the makers of Dole Spinach and reached out to officials at the Dole headquarters in California. To this, the company responded by offering a courier to pick up the contaminated packet of goods. She was also offered vouchers for her further purchases – an offer which she politely declined. The lady also contacted officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and claimed one of the representatives who heard about her discovery was horrified by it. The FDA is likely to review the process that Dole follows while packaging Dole Spinach.

Cadrucci is thanking her stars for being able to discover the dead bird before she opened up the package. “If I would have found it making a smoothie or in a salad, I don’t know what I would have done,” she says. Nevertheless, the incident seems to have shaken up her pretty well and she has decided to stay away from bagged lettuce and spinach again.

Dole has in the meantime issued a statement to WEWS that reads thus:

“Thank you for contacting us about the issue. We appreciate that you have given us the opportunity to respond. Dole Fresh Vegetables prides itself on its high product quality standards and takes consumer concerns very seriously. We have already spoken to the consumer and our Quality Assurance staff is investigating the incident.”
