Katharine McPhee Stops by ‘The Voice’ to Promote ‘Smash’

American Idol season five #2 Katharine McPhee dropped by the season finale of The Voice.
McPhee wasn’t looking for another title, however- the former reality show contestant was promoting the new project Smash. Smash is premiering on NBC early next year, and a Broadway-specific blog got the deets on the show’s theater cred:
The show, which is about a group of people who come together to put on a Broadway musical was developed by NBC’s Robert Greenblatt, Steven Spielberg, and Broadway producing team Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Broadway’s Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman – whose latest venture, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, is now running at the Neil Simon Theatre – wrote the music for the show. Michael Mayer directed the project, and playwright Theresa Rebeck penned the script.
The show also stars Debra Messing and Jack Davenport (of FlashForward) and will occupy the slot just ahead of The Voice when it appears next winter.
