Backyard Easter Egg Hunt Reveals Dead Body

A hunt for Easter Eggs this week in the run-up to Easter Sunday turned into something far more serious.

That’s because a Knoxville, Tennessee, woman found a dead body while having an Easter egg hunt with her four-year-old son in their backyard.

The decomposed male body was located under the deck of the family’s home. The identity of the man is still a mystery.

Something had smelled bad for several day but the mom was unable to spot the source of the problem until Wednesday evening during the Easter Egg hunt. “Police said the body was in a spot deep beneath the deck around 15 to 20 feet from the outer edge.”

The lifeless body is believed to have been beneath the deck for perhaps one or two weeks before it was discovered. Knoxville authorities are conducting an autopsy to try to determine the cause of death. Officials indicated there are no obvious signs of foul play.

In the meantime, they have yet to be able to make a positive ID of the corpse, however. “The man didn’t have identification and the body had decomposed to the point police couldn’t take point fingerprints in the field. He didn’t have any scars or tattoos but did have extensive dental work. The man appears to be middle-aged, approximately 5’4? tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He also has brown hair and brown eyes. KPD is working with the medical examiner to identify the man.” The description of the deceased man does not seem to match any entries in the missing persons database.

This is not the first time an Easter Egg hunt went wrong. As The Inquisitr previously reported, a three-year-old boy in Britain came across a live hand grenade while hunting for Easter Eggs. After the boy’s dad called police, the bomb squad responded and detonated the grenade after the area was evacuated and secured. No one was hurt in the incident.
