Mara Wilson Will Not Be A Part Of ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Sequel

The internet is abuzz with the news that Robin Williams has signed on to do a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire, as reported here on The Inquisitr. But what about the rest of the former cast? Unfortunately, Mara Wilson – the actress who played the youngest daughter in the original movie – has turned down any part in the upcoming sequel.

According to E!, the sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire is in the works at Fox 2000. Mara Wilson, however, told her followers on Twitter and Facebook that she wouldn’t be up to reprising her role as Nattie Hillard. In Mara Wilson’s defense, it has been over two decades since Mrs. Doubtfire aired in theaters back in 1993.

Actually, on Twitter, Mara Wilson restated the facts pertaining to the upcoming sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire. She is actually known now for her theater work and writing. Nevertheless, Mara is very thankful for her moments in the movie, opposite Robin Williams.

Prior to sharing her gratitude, she also opinionated her belief that most sequels “suck” unless they are part of a trilogy.

Also from a report by Huffington Post, Lisa Jakub, the actress who played the oldest daughter, Lydia Hillard, also expressed her views about the upcoming sequel.

Nevertheless, it is unknown what the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel will be about. Like written earlier, the original movie is over two decades old. Most of the actors who played children are in their twenties (or maybe thirties since Lisa Jakub’s age is technically unknown). Actually, out of everyone in the original movie, Robin Williams and Sally Field are the only ones who probably got the most out of it, especially Williams who is now one half of the leads in The Crazy Ones, which recently had a Mork and Mindy reunion.

As for Mara Wilson, she’s busy mostly as a writer. She still acts but mostly in theater. Mara Wilson also stated that she rather does voice-over acting and stage acting over film, but she will do film acting for people she really trusts.

The sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire was just recently announced. As of now, the only verified news are the confirmed actors and who is directing.
