Chelsea Clinton Pregnant: First Daughter Expecting Child Later This Year
Chelsea Clinton is pregnant, with the First Daughter announcing Thursday that she and husband Marc are expecting their first child later this year.
Clinton announced the pregnancy at a joint appearance with her mother, Hillary Clinton, for the Clinton Foundation.
The pregnancy was announced at the conclusion of an event to support the “No Ceilings: The Full Participation” project.
“I have one more thing to say very quickly,” Chelsea Clinton told reporters as the event was drawing to a close. “I just want to thank all of you for being such an inspiration to us and to me in particular. Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year.”
“And I certainly feel all the better, whether it’s a girl or a boy, that she or he will grow up in a world with so many strong, young female leaders,” she said.

Clinton married hedge fund trader Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. Her parents had been open about the prospect of becoming grandparents, Hillary in particular. Her mother had spoken openly about it, Chelsea Clinton revealed in an interview with Glamour magazine last year.
During the interview, Chelsea said she wanted to make 2014 “the Year of the Baby.”
“And please,” she added, “call my mother and tell her that. She asks us about it every single day.”
While Chelsea Clinton is pregnant with her first child, she may also be looking to make another first in the near future. She revealed in a recent interview that she has given serious thought to a run for public office.
