'Mrs Doubtfire 2' cast to include Robin Williams, Chris Columbus

‘Mrs Doubtfire 2’ Cast Includes Robin Williams, Chris Columbus To Direct

The Mrs. Doubtfire 2 cast is mostly undetermined, but it has been officially announced that Robin Williams is returning to the title role. Thankfully it’s not a reboot or a remake like a lot of movies are these days, and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is once again in charge.

There was a time when cross-dressing men in film was considered comedy gold, and that was when Mrs. Doubtfire gained its fame. It starred an almost ensemble cast including Williams, Pierce Brosnan, Sally Field, and young Mara Wilson. Aside from the latter, they have all gone on to star in major films. Pierce Brosnan was the second last James Bond actor, Sally Field was cast as Aunt May in the Amazing Spider-Man reboot series, and Robin Williams is starring in a successful TV series, The Crazy Ones. It is yet unknown how he will be able to fit time in between episodes of the TV series to film Mrs. Doubtfire 2, but Williams has surprised us before.

Mrs. Doubtfire 2?

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Robin Williams even reunited with his Mork & Mindy costar Pam Dawber in The Crazy Ones.

The Mrs. Doubtfire 2 cast is mostly unconfirmed, so it’s not clear if Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, or Mara Wilson will be back. Wilson will probably welcome the chance, having resorted to online fame with Nostalgia Critic‘s Doug Walker and his crew (notably Lindsay Ellis AKA the Nostalgia Chick) after a review of her film Matilda. [Edit: Mara Wilson has said on Twitter that she won’t be back for the sequel]

Elf writer David Berenbaum could be writing the script for the Mrs. Doubtfire 2 cast, so anyone familiar with the Will Ferrell holiday comedy may be delighted to catch the sequel to the film which grossed over $400 million at the box office. Of course the part everybody remembers from the original film was Robin Williams dancing to Aerosmith’s “Dude (Looks Like a Lady),” dressed like a Scottish housekeeper, so it is possible we could be seeing him dance again to something more modern.
