AMBER Alert – Desperate Search For Abducted Eight Year Old Boy

The world is a crazy place these days, and it seems as if the number of Amber Alerts continue to increase in frequency. The latest Amber Alert involves a young boy from the area of Ontario, Canada. An Amber Alert has been issued by the Ontario Provincial Police for eight-year-old Matthew Zhang, who was reported missing on Sunday evening.

Matthew’s father, the custodial parent, took the boy for a visit with his mother in Mississauga around 10 in the morning on Sunday. When he attempted to contact the mother, Wei Chen, around 5 that evening, she allegedly refused to return Matthew to his father. Zhang’s dad contacted police, resulting in the issuance of the Amber Alert.

Police believe that Chen has absconded with the child. The mother does not have custody of the boy, and is said to be unable to properly care for him. The Amber Alert was issued Monday morning around 10:30.

Matthew Zhang is an eight-year-old boy, is described as Asian, five feet tall, with short black hair and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a sweater with a hooded sweatshirt, gray runners with a green stripe, and a blue or green winter coat.

Wei Chen is also Asian and described as having a thin build, five feet six, with black collar-length hair. Police say she is known to drive a 2005 gray, four door Honda Accord, Ontario license plate AVAM 009.

Hopefully the search for Matthew Zhang will turn out with a happy ending, as that of missing 5-month-old Brianna Martinez, who was found safe in Manatee County, Florida earlier this week. An Amber Alert was issued for Brianna in Sarasota, Florida. She was thought to possibly have been in the company of ldequndo Benitez-Caivillo. The police found this suspicious, as a relationship between the infant and Benitez-Caivillo was not known. An abduction was suspected. The Amber Alert has been canceled, and Brianna is safe.
