3G iPhone Will Support Video: Source
The 3G iPhone to be launched in June will support an enhanced camera that supports video, according to a source who contacted The Inquisitr.
The source would only say that iPhone supporting documents provided to outlets selling the phone spoke of video capability. He also confirmed that the iPhone would go on sale in Australia to coincide with the opening of the first official Apple store in Sydney in June (he didn’t mention the opening of the Chadstone or Chatswood stores).
Video has been a key feature lacking from the original iPhone, at a time competitors such as Nokia, and startups such as Qik provide the means to offer video, and live video to a growing audience.
I’d rate the source at about 75%. I was able to confirm independently that he was in a position to have seen the documentation (presuming it exists) but I have no other way of confirming the information.

Well published. Look forward to more info on the 3G version. Do you think that means Australia will be the testbed for a 3G iPhone rollout in the US?

I’m not sure on the US side, if I was betting I’d think a US release with the announcement at the Apple Dev conference early June, with an Australian launch date with the Sydney main store (possibly the others, I’ve heard Chadstone is due to open in June as well) a week or so later, or close there to. It helps that AT&T has the 3G network in place to support it.

Yay! The camera is the one killer shortcoming in the current model. It’s so slow that you can actually distort a photo by moving the phone when you press the shutter in most lighting conditions. It’s circa 2005 mobile camera standard.
