Vance McAllister Caught Kissing Staffer, Married Congressman Seeks Forgiveness

Vance McAllister, the married congressman for Louisiana, has been caught kissing one of his staffers on video.

The incident is believed to have taken place just before Christmas, and the woman has reportedly been identified as, Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, a congressional staffer for McAllister.

Federal payroll records have since proved that the 33-year-old was a part-time aide who started her position with McAllister the day after he won his seat in 2013. It’s also been confirmed that Peacock no longer works for the Congressman.

The Ouachita Citizen were the first to post the damning surveillance footage, which came from inside McAllister’s district office in Monroe. McAllister, who has been married to his wife, Kelly, since 1997 and has five children, the youngest of which is four, while the oldest is 19, has since issued an apology for his misdemeanor.

“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness. I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve,” he declared.

McAllister continued, “Trust is something I know has to be earned whether you’re a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed. From day one, I’ve always tried to be an honest man. I ran for Congress to make a difference and not to just be another politician.”

He then concluded, “I don’t want to make a political statement on this, I would just simply like to say that I’m very sorry for what I’ve done. While I realize I serve the public, I would appreciate the privacy given to my children as we get through this.”

The Citizen has yet to specifically confirm how they obtained the grainy video footage, however they have revealed that an anonymous source lead them in the direction of it.

The clip doesn’t show the faces of the two individuals involved clearly, instead it shows a man turning off the lights in a hallway before he then leaves the frame for a few seconds. When he returns he is joined by a woman, and they then passionately kiss before leaving.

McAllister replaced Rep. Rodney Alexander in a special election on November 16, after Alexander left his seat because he had been named the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. Most recently he courted press attention after he invited Willie Robertson, a member of the television show, Duck Dynasty, to be his guest at the State of the Union address.
