Teleka Patrick: Body Found In Indiana Lake Believed To Be That Of Missing Doctor
Teleka Patrick, a 30-year-old Michigan medical resident, may have been found by a local fisherman, though the outcome of the search may be a grim one, as reports state that a body pulled from an Indiana lake could be that of the missing woman.
According to an earlier report by The Inquisitr, Teleka Patrick was last seen on December 5, 2013. She was last spotted on a surveillance video from a Kalamazoo Radisson hotel in Michigan where she was seen attempting to book a room. Patrick was unable to get a room at the hotel, so she took a hotel shuttle to her car before disappearing without a trace.
Two hours after Patrick was seen leaving the hotel, her car was discovered abandoned in a ditch off of I-94, more than 100 miles away from the hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. where she worked as a resident. According to The Inquisitr, the last person to actually see Patrick was the hotel’s shuttle bus driver, who said the girl seemed agitated. From there, very few clues provided any actual information on the whereabouts of the missing Michigan woman.
According to ABC News, a body was spotted by a fisherman who called police early Sunday with a report of something suspicious floating in the waters of Lake Charles in Porter Indiana. The report stated that Indiana State Police and members of the SCUBA team, and Porter Fire and Rescue Department arrived on scene and later pulled the body of a female from the lake.
Mlive Kalamazoo reported that Jim Carlin, a private investigator hired by Teleka Patrick’s family, has said that the body of the female is believed to be that of the missing Michigan doctor. Police have yet to positively identify the body that was pulled out of the lake, though he seemed to believe that it is that of Teleka Patrick.
“That’s my position,” Carlin said in relation to the identity of the body. “Obviously the family wants to have it confirmed with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.”
The family of the missing Michigan woman were informed by police that the body may be that of their missing daughter, though they are still waiting to hear the official results from the Kalamazoo Sheriff’s Department.
“Our family was informed that a body was found that may be our daughter Teleka Patrick. We are waiting for official confirmation from the Kalamazoo Sheriff’s Department and have no comment at this time. Thank you for your continued prayers — we ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”
Reports state that an official autopsy of the body is scheduled for Tuesday, and they hope to identify the body by Wednesday.
