Zayn Malik Goes Hip Hop? One Direction Star Gives Rapping A Shot

Zayn Malik is super talented — we get it! But it still came as a pleasant surprise when we learned from the Sun that the One Direction hottie plans to rap on the band’s fourth and upcoming album.

According to reports, 21-year-old Malik is currently concentrated in mastering the art of rap with the help of Britain’s top rap artist, Naughty Boy, whose “La La La” won Best Song and Best Video in the 2013 MOBO 18th anniversary awards.

Sources say that Zayn is really enjoying hip hop and appreciates the untapped creative energy he gets to pour into rap music. Zayn reportedly loves rapping about the things he is most comfortable about: from his childhood life growing up in East Bowling, to his love for Little Mix member Pierre Edwards.

MTV says that everyone who has heard Zayn’s rapping skills so far have been impressed. This doubles the excitement for all One Direction fans who are dying to hear Malik drop the mic on stage. His rap style was even compared by sources to that of rap artist Drake, who has also recently released a new song called “Draft Day”.

However, One Direction fans shouldn’t get their hopes too high. There is no assurance that Malik’s rap genius will be included in the songs, as producers haven’t decided yet if the rap sample will make it to the final cut of productions. Sources say:

“No one knows yet whether they will make the cut for One Direction’s new album, as it would be a massive leap away from their pop sound, but Zayn is loving the creative freedom.

But we’re hoping and praying real hard that we get to hear Zayn bust some rhymes. After all, Malik’s street cred will be wasted talent if his loving fans don’t get to hear his rap creations.

And if Zayn really decides to pour more effort on his rap side, everyone can agree that he’s in good hands with Naughty Boy — real name Shahid Kahn — who has performed and partnered over the years with top ranking hip hop artists like Emile Sande and Whiz Khalifa.

This Zayn Malik rap gig is certainly refreshingly positive news after that horrid Malik death hoax April fools joke that drove his fans (and apparently, also him) nuts. But we’re already over that, and for now, we’re just focused on the very alive Zayn Malik and the One Direction’s upcoming album.
