Bryan Cranston To Write ‘Breaking Bad’ Memoir

Bryan Cranston was the man who knocks as Walter White in the seminal AMC series Breaking Bad, and now he will be the man who writes about the lessons he’s learned while portraying the chemistry teacher turned meth cook.

Scribner announced that Bryan Cranston will be publishing a memoir to come out in the fall of 2015. There will be an audio edition to be released with the book.

He isn’t just writing about his time as Walter White. Cranston’s book is rumored to go back further than his Breaking Bad role. The memoir is said to be about his career as an actor “from the ground up.” For aspiring actors his memoir will be a great tool as Cranston plans to write about how he worked from the ground up all the way to his groundbreaking role in Breaking Bad.

With the press release Bryan Cranston said of his most popular role, “Walter White taught me a lot — some of it useful, some of it dangerous. With this book, I want to tell the stories of my life and reveal the secrets and lies that I lived with for six years shooting Breaking Bad.”

Scribner publisher Nan Graham has decided to back Bryan Cranston’s new memoir in a statement:

“Bryan Cranston writes the way he acts — with fierce commitment, intelligence and humor. His memoir is about the work of acting and about his role as Walter White, one of the greatest performances of our time. We are thrilled to be publishing this book on the Scribner list alongside Stephen King’s On Writing and Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up.”

Back in September Cranston opened up about Walt and his moral compass:

“When you play a character, he’s in your skin. You are him. When people ask what I think of Walt, I have to step out of my head and my body, and try to look back at me. Vince Gilligan can answer that, because he creates Walt. But for me, it’s much more difficult.”

Currently Bryan Cranston can be seen in a limited engagement in the Broadway play based on the life of Lyndon B. Johnson called All The Way. The Breaking Bad actor plays the president in what some are saying is a powerful performance. Before Cranston’s role on Breaking Bad he played Hal, the goofy dad on Malcolm in the Middle. Adding author to his resume is only one achievement of the actor’s. In addition he’s also a three-time Emmy winner for his role as Walter White.
