Anna Kendrick Has A Bone To Pick With Pharrell At Her SNL Debut
Anna Kendrick has a bone to pick with Pharrell, and will get the chance at her big Saturday Night Live debut this week.
Kendrick had the honor of meeting Pharrell at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, but the actress didn’t seem to notice what the rest of the internet couldn’t stop talking about — the size of his enormous hat. The hat was the talk of social media after the award show aired, even stealing the spotlight from what Kendrick described as her “cleavage window” dress.
In an interview with Seth Meyers this week, Kendrick said she didn’t seem to notice the big headpiece when she and Pharrell were presenting the “Best New Artist” award to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
“I swear on my life, I didn’t even register the hat,” she said during an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “I think in person it just doesn’t seem that big!”
“We met before and we did the whole thing together,” she recalled. “And I like, looked on Twitter and everyone was talking about it. I think that Pharrell is like looking in the mirror being like, ‘Guys, it’s not — no I’m telling you, it’s not that big.'”
Seth added a possible explanation for Pharrell’s big hat, and Anna Kendrick seemed to agree.
“It’s a hat that looks bigger the further away you get from it – it’s an optical illusion hat!” he said, to which Anna agreed: “We should study this hat!”
Anna thinks her short stature may have something to do with it.
“I was telling my friend like, in person I didn’t even notice it,” said Anna, who just barely breaks the 5-foot mark. “And my friend was like, ‘Maybe because you’re so short you only saw the rim?’ As though that’s how sight works!”
The actress and singer has a big week ahead of her. She will be hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time, and the musical guest is none other than Pharrell.
