Seth Rogen Backs Down, Kanye West – Kim Kardashian Spoofs In Good Fun, Says Actor

Seth Rogen, the comic actor and writer who has turned gags about sexual insecurity and smoking pot into a Hollywood gold mine, has disappointed fans who delighted in the way Rogen and his Hollywood pal James Franco have ripped into the ridiculousness of uber-couple Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

The 31-year-old Knocked Up star said in a recent interview that his parodies of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are simply his way of expressing his fandom.

“I’m like just really into his music,” at the CinemaCon in Las Vegas where he was flogging his upcoming flick The Interview, in which he co-stars with Franco on the big screen for the third time — not counting the Kanye West parody “Bound 3” video.

Rogen and Franco shared the screen in the 2008 Pineapple Express and then again in the 2013 self-parody This is The End, in which Seth Rogen, James Franco and numerous other comedy stars played stylized versions of themselves in an apocalyptic scenario.

Seth Rogen and James Franco were also part if the ensemble cast in the short-lived NBC series Freaks and Geeks, which ran in the 1999/2000 TV season.

In the CinemaCon interview, Rogen explained how the parody of Kanye West’s “Bound 2” video became reality.

“We were filming The Interview in Vancouver and we kept trying to go to Kanye West shows that kept getting canceled or the dates kept changing and it happened like two or three times,” Seth Rogen explained. “We were just talking about him all the time and then the video came out so we were just like, ‘Let’s just try to do that.'”

Rogen and Franco later responded to the Kanye West – Kim Kardashian cover of Vogue Magazine by digitally replacing the couple’s heads with their own faces.

Even though Seth Rogen said that the spoofs of Kanye and Kim are affectionate, or meant that way, there are more in the works. In fact, he is looking for an actor to portray baby North West in an upcoming parody.

“Michael Cera would be good. Get Anne Leibovitz to take the pictures,” mused Seth Rogen, referring to the famous celebrity shutterbig who snapped the West – Kardashian Vogue cover.
