Fleetwood Mac Rumors: Christine McVie Joins Reunion Tour Lineup

The Fleetwood Mac rumors are true, the popular rock band will be getting back together for a reunion tour and Christine McVie will join them. For the first time in 16 years, all five members of Fleetwood Mac will come together for a 33 city tour that begins in September. Christine McVie left Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and has only performed on stage once in the last 16 years with the band, last September.

The Inquisitr reported on Fleetwood Mac rumors that Christine McVie would be reuniting with the band back in January. At the time, there had been no official statement about the reunion tour or details of how involved McVie would be. On March 27th, Fleetwood Mac appeared on the NBC’sToday show and revealed to Carson Daly that Christine McVie would officially be a part of the reunion tour.

Originally, McVie left Fleetwood Mac after being a part of the band for 28 years because of the rigorous life endured by rock stars. McVie told People magazine, “I think that I was probably just burned out when I left and I was frightened to fly.” Fleetwood Mac rumors were always focused on the romantic lives of the stars as much as the music. Certainly the drama of constantly being in the spotlight put a drain on the Fleetwood Mac keyboardist, vocalist, and songwriter.

Much of the drama was very personal for Christine. She married Fleetwood Mac bass guitarist Jon McVie and joined the band in 1970. But after Christine had an affair with the band’s lighting director. That relationship sparked the song You Make Loving Fun, featured on the Fleetwood Mac album Rumours. Jon and Christine McVie would file for divorce in 1979.

Tickets for the Fleetwood Mac reunion tour, titled the On With The Show Tour, go on sale Monday March 31st. Live Nation Entertainment will exclusively promote the tour and there have been hints that it could lead to a new album. Christine McVie had a short solo career after Fleetwood Mac and started writing new music.

“Lindsay [Buckingham] has been trolling through some tapes and files I sent to him when I was in England,” McVie said. “He took bits that I thought were useless and said, ‘That’s fantastic!’ So he’s made them into something that I didn’t realize were really that good. I am going, ‘God. I can’t believe that I actually wrote that.'”

So the Fleetwood Mac rumors are true, Christine McVie is coming back for the reunion tour.
