Durham Bulls ‘Star Wars’ Jerseys Will Benefit Autism Society Of North Carolina

The Durham Bulls Star Wars jerseys are sure to be a hot commodity across the internet. The Tampa Bay Rays’ triple-A affiliate Durham Bulls will be sporting Star Wars jerseys on the weekend of May 2nd, 2014 as part of the celebration surrounding the unofficial Star Wars national holiday, May the fourth (get it?). Although they are not the first team to try and cash in on George Lucas films, the Durham Bulls Star Wars jerseys definitely bring some new style to R2D2.

In order to utilize the publicity from the Star Wars jerseys, the Durham Bulls will also auction off the jerseys to benefit the Autism Society of North Carolina. Since 1970, the Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC) has worked to address areas of need and expand services for the autism community in North Carolina. Their organization focuses on advocacy, training, education, and direct care services. The Durham Bulls get credit for cool Star Wars jerseys and a cool cause.

Fans who want to get their hands on a Durham Bulls R2D2 Star Wars jersey should probably start buying their tickets now to the May the fourth game against the Columbus Clippers. There will be a silent auction at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park that night for fans to get their hands on the game worn jerseys. It would be surprising if the Durham Bulls didn’t find a way to sell replicas in their store or online.

Of course baseball and Star Wars together is nothing new. The San Francisco Giants have hosted a Star Wars game for several years. R2D2 will be the main event this year with a beanie give away.

What’s your reaction to the Durham Bulls Star Wars jersey promotion?
