Julianna Margulies As Emotional As ‘Good Wife’ Fans Over Show’s Shocking Death [Spoilers]

Julianna Margulies was as emotional when she filmed the scene containing the shocking death of one The Good Wife‘s leading characters as many fans were watching it.

The surprise shooting death of one of the main characters occurred on Sunday night’s episode, ironically titled “Dramatics, Your Honor.”

Margulies and fans of the show watched in terror as popular character Will Gardner was gunned down in the courtroom. Played by Josh Charles, Julianna says she was moved to tears when the deed was done.

Obviously Margulies knows Charles isn’t actually dead, her tears were over the loss of a good friend from the cast of the show.

Julianna talked to The Wrap about her feelings when it became apparent that her long time castmate was leaving.

“I cried, I’ve known Josh for a long, long time,” Julianna Margulies, who plays Alicia Florrick said about the departure. “When I heard he was going to be leaving, I called the producers and said, “How about we try to keep him for at least half of next year and write his character out?'”

In the show, Florrick and Gardner are also quite close and it appears that has bled over into the relationship that Margulies and Charles shared off screen. The one big difference between Josh and Julianna’s relationship in real life is there isn’t any romance there.

Julianna is happily married and according to the New York Daily News, that solid marriage has allowed Margulies to be more secure and “braver” as an actress.

While Julianna might have a secure relationship off camera, it remains to be seen what will happen now that Margulies’ main paramour is dead.

For his part, Charles talked to The Wrap recently and made it clear his decision to leave The Good Wife was not an easy one.

“There’s been a lot of people that have asked me what the reason is, why I wanted to leave the show,” he said. “I felt however much that I’ve enjoyed the experience that I was ready for the next chapter of my life both creatively and personally.”

Josh Charles has been a regular on The Good Wife since it first premiered. In his exit interview, the actor was quick to say he will still be watching The Good Wife and believes it will continue to operate at the highest quality.

It seems like Julianna Margulies is in complete agreement with him on that point.
