‘Jurassic World’ Adds French Actor Omar Sy To Cast

Jurassic World is adding yet another cast member to the next installment of the dinotastic series. The film, which is set to be directed by Safety NotGuaranteed‘s Colin Trevorrow, will have french actor Omar Sy join the already growing cast of Chris Pratt, Idris Elba, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson, and Irrfan Khan.

Omar Sy was very excited to announce the news via his Twitter, tweeting out to his fans about being cast in Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World.

Right now Omar Sy’s role in Jurassic World is unknown, but we’re sure his part will be just as good as leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. As the cast expands, there has been questions about the original cast returning to the series. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that will be the case.

During an interview, Colin Trevorrow confirmed that fan favorites like Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern will not be revisited. As a fan of the series, Trevorrow said:

“I know a lot of fans want to see the original characters back. They’re iconic. But I respect those actors too much to shoehorn them into this story for my own sentimental reasons. Jurassic Park isn’t about the bad luck of three people who keep getting thrown into the same situation.”

Even though he confirmed that Jurassic World is going to focus on the new characters, he did mention that the appearance of the original Dr. Henry Wu would make sense in the new film.

“He had a much larger role in the original novel, he was the engineer of this breakthrough in de-extinction. He spent two decades living in Hammond’s shadow, underappreciated. We think there’s more to his story.”

The last huge casting news to come from Jurassic World was timeless baddie Vincent D’Onofrio. It was announced that D’Onofrio, along with Irrfan Khan, are going to head up the bad guys list in the series.

As far as our hero goes, Chris Pratt finally revealed just how excited he is to take over for actor Sam Neill:

“I sat down with him [Trevorrow] and we just started getting excited about this. In the back of my mind, I was like ‘Dude, this is going to happen. They want you to do this movie.’ I remember him telling me, ‘Yeah, they’re not going to tell you this, but we want you to do it.’ I was like, ‘Buhhh. Really? Oh God. Really?'”

Jurassic World is set to hit theaters on June 12, 2015.
