Imagine Dragons Might Take A Break Before Recording New Album

Imagine Dragons might decide to take a short break before recording a new album.

In case you haven’t heard, Imagine Dragons are one of the hottest bands in rock music right now. In fact, their single “Radioactive” recently broke Billboard records for lingering in the Hot 100 chart for an amazing 76 weeks. Not surprisingly, fans are anxious for the guys to release another round of music.

During the group’s stint at SXSW in Austin, Texas, frontman Dan Reynolds told the folks at Billboard that the guys have dozens of demos sitting around that could find their way onto the next Imagine Dragons record. However, there’s a chance the fellas might take a break before returning to the studio.

“At the end of this (North American) tour we have a couple shows in Mexico and then we’re doing the Lollapalooza run in South America. So we still have a couple of important things before we step foot into any studio,” Reynolds revealed.

He added, “We keep toying with the idea of taking a little bit of time off, which keeps sounding more and more appealing, but we’re really bad at that.”

The singer explained that putting together an “album journey” is very important to the group. Instead of just quickly stringing together one Imagine Dragons song after another, the guys are very interested in putting together one cohesive experience.

Reynolds told The Associated Press back in February that the band is finished releasing singles from Night Visions. Instead of saturating radio with their music, the singer said it was important to “pull back from the reins” and give folks a break for a while.

When asked about the next Imagine Dragons album, Reynolds said, “We’ve really been recording on the road… When we get home from tour, we’ll comb through those demos and pick out the best ones and bring them to a live band setting. Right now, I have a good 40 or 50 demos that I’ve been writing over the last two years.”

He continued, “We want to take a little time off. Sometimes you can put out an album that’s maybe not as good as it could have been because you rushed it.”

Although there’s a possibility Imagine Dragons could take a short break before returning to the studio once again, it’s still anybody’s guess what the guys intend to do once their tour is all wrapped up. Are you looking forward to the band’s sophomore album?
