The contest gives the 27-6 Virginia Cavaliers a chance to win their first ACC title in 38 years, but to do so they must make it through a Duke squad that’s won 18 out of their last 20 games. The Blue Devils are also 15-3 all time against Virginia in the ACC tournament, including seven straight wins.

On Saturday against N.C. State they again struggled on defense, allowing the Wolfpack to hit 13 of 15 shots during an 11-minute stretch. But they came alive when they needed to and closed out in the second half.

“First half, neither team could stop one another,” Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “In the second half, we just played better defense.”

Virginia, meanwhile, let an eight-point lead slip away in the final minutes against Pitt in the semifinals but still managed to pull out a two-point win.

“There’s no better feeling, of course, but we’ll celebrate later,” said Justin Anderson. “We’re to a point where we have a chance to make a run, not just in the ACC but the NCAA tournament, and we have to… continue to be humble.
