Luke Bryan Releases ‘Spring Break 6 EP,’ Sets His Sights On The Billboard 200

Luke Bryan is still one of the hottest commodities in country music.

The singer issued the Spring Break 6… Like We Ain’t Ever EP last week, continuing a tradition he started over half-a-decade ago. Although the record only contains a handful of songs, this isn’t stopping the collection of tunes from quickly climbing up the charts.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there’s a very good chance that Luke Bryan and his latest musical endeavor will top the Billboard 200 albums chart next week. Industry analysts believe the singer sold between 75,000 and 80,000 copies of the record in a single week.

However, Bryan has some competition nipping at his heels. Despite hitting retail shelves last year, the soundtrack to Disney’s box office hit Frozen continues to sell an incredible amount of copies. In fact, there’s a very good chance the tunes could knock Luke out of the number one position.

Luke Bryan told Taste of Country in February that the Spring Break EP 6 would feature songs that were lighter and more fun than some of the tracks that make it onto his full-length records. In short: He put together a batch of tunes that people can enjoy while they’re getting some sun and hanging out with friends.

“The songs for this project came together so fast. These special EP’s all began as a way to get new music out to the fans between studio projects. I feel like year after year we get a little bit better at writing for this. I think with these new songs I would be proud to put them on any album we release,” he explained.

Bryan added, “We kind of write ’em with college kids and Spring Break and that whole party theme in mind. I think it’s fun to put out songs just to get some new music out there for fans and more opportunities for them to have different types of music from.”

To promote the release of his EP, Luke appeared on a recent episode of Ellen. Since a lot of folks who turned up to see the taping of DeGeneres’ show probably didn’t get a chance to see the country music star during his free performances Spinnaker’s Beach Club in Panama City, he decided to bring the party to them. Take a look at the appearance below.

“Ellen’s always been a great friend, a great person to work with, and she’s always done an amazing job promoting Country Music,” he explained.
