Katherine Heigl Leaves Popular Agency, Momager Causes Split

It isn’t looking too comfortable for actress and former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl. After her most recent films failed to make bank, plus her latest indie currently failing at pulling in funds, the actress has decided to leave the popular agency Creative Artists for the William Morris Agency.

The cause behind the odd split? Her mother and manager Nancy Heigl who has acted as producer on most of Katherine’s films. Heigl is said to be very intimately involved in all of her daughter’s projects, and this became a conflict.

Katherine Heigl broke out to a whole new stardom when she left the WB drama Roswell which eventually led to Heigl picking up a lead role in an ensemble cast in the ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. During her time on the show Heigl was involved in some of the biggest story lines and character arcs as the emotional model turned surgeon Izzie Stevens. Heigl walked away with an Emmy award for her role for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, the only of its cast members to win an Emmy for the drama in its continued run.

After bumping heads with production on the show, and various other issues that went on behind the scenes, Katherine decided to split in favor for a lucrative film career, which wound up stalling after her departure from the show in 2010.

Recently when Heigl was asked why she wasn’t adding her loot to the $150K that her new film Jenny’s Wedding was asking via Indiegogo, the actress admitted that she hasn’t made a lot of money over the last few years. When TMZ caught up with the actress she said, “I haven’t made that much in the last few years, man. I gotta support my family.”

In addition The Hollywood Reporter also wrote a feature on Katherine Heigl and her mother Nancy Heigl, when former co-workers admitted to the publication that the two are impossible to work with. According to the source, her mother is the main problem, “I have never experienced anything like Nancy Heigl.”

“It’s about the mouth. ‘F— you. You are a f—ing liar.’ … Whatever you’d say, you were an idiot. The call would be, ‘This is the worst craft service we’ve ever had! There’s nothing to eat! This is the worst wardrobe!’ You knew that every day, you were going to get slammed. The frustrating part is [Heigl] is incredibly talented and smart.”

Although it does seem like Katherine Heigl has a few problems to work out in the industry, it isn’t that bad for the actress. Her film career may not have panned out, but she did just score a pretty promising new television drama on NBC called State of Affairs, which will see Heigl take on the role as a CIA officer.

Hopefully her time at WME will be a better experience for all parties involved.
