Indianapolis Colts Rumors: Arthur Jones Will Sign, Can They Get A Running Back?

Indianapolis Colts rumors are being confirmed that the team will sign Baltimore Ravens defensive end Arthur Jones once free agency signings go live at 4 pm on Tuesday. Arthur Jones was a hot name on the free agent market in 2014. The Indianapolis Colts rumors were complemented by Jones potentially landing in other cities like Tennessee, Minnesota, or Green Bay.

The Indianapolis Colts rumors are some of the most intriguing during free agency season in 2014. After an incredible 2013 season, capped off by the second largest comeback in NFL playoff history against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Indianapolis Colts are expected to be a favored destination for many free agents. Besides Arthur Jones, Colts rumors suggest they are looking for a cornerback (Darrelle Revis?) and a nose tackle to fit into coach Chuck Pagano’s 3-4 scheme. Jones adds speed on the outside and the right nose tackle would bolster the leagues 20th ranked defense.

While it is no secret that the Indianapolis Colts rumors should be focusing on making the defense better, the reality is the offense has a chance to go to the next level in free agency. The Colts signed pro bowl kicker Adam Vinatieri on Tuesday ahead of the opening of free agency. Vinatieri, 41, is the NFL’s oldest player and has only played for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts in his 18 year career. Vinatieri is also one of only seven players who have scored more than 2,000 points in their career.

With a locked in special teams group, the Indianapolis Colts offense now becomes the focus. There is not a huge need at wide receiver, as Andrew Luck has developed an outstanding rapport with T.Y. Hilton, Coby Fleener, and Reggie Wayne. If the Indianapolis Colts can get their hands on Eric Decker or Hakeem Nicks at the right price, they may look to upgrade over Fleener. Rather than a wide receiver, the Indianapolis Colts rumors should focus on finding a way to find a top running back. Donald Brown is a free agent and Trent Richardson has largely been a disappointment. With backs like Darren McFadden, Rashad Jennings, and Maurice Jones-Drew available, it is possible that the Colts could work out a trade involving Richardson to make room for a big free agents signing.

One thing is for sure, with 17 free agents from last season’s team still on the table, the Indianapolis Colts rumors will continue through most of the offseason.
