What Ted Cruz Said At CPAC Shocked Liberals Across America

Ted Cruz appears to never shy away from saying what is on his mind and remained true to form during his CPAC speech. The Senator took to the podium an announced that the United States should abolish the IRS. The Tea Party Republican feels that American should be able to file their taxes on the back of a post card, a statement which drew a near deafening round of applause from the crowd.

As the IRS targeting scandal garnered national attention in 2013, Cruz first called for abolishing the IRS and installing a type of flat tax. Although what the Senator suggested would not be a true flat tax since it allowed for deductions for home mortgage and charitable deductions, many Tea Party members, Republicans, Libertarians, and independent voters appear to support the idea.

Senator Ted Cruz had this to say about the IRS during CPAC 2014:

“Now I do have to start with a bit of bad news this morning. Sorry to tell you that by virtue of your being here today, tomorrow morning each and every one of you is going to be audited by the IRS. So I appreciate the courage of your convictions. How many of you have your cell phones? Please, leave them on, I want to make sure that President Obama hears everything I have to say here this morning. We need to abolish the IRS. We need to adopt a simple flat tax that is fair that every American can fill out his taxes on a post card.

Fellow Tea Party favorite Rand Paul also feels that the IRS should get out of the income tax business:

“Could America exist without an income tax? The idea seems radical, yet in truth America did just fine without a federal income tax for the first 126 years of its history. Prior to 1913, the government operated with revenues raised through tariffs, excise taxes, and property taxes, without ever touching a worker’s paycheck. Is it impossible to end the income tax? I don’t believe so. In fact, I believe a serious groundswell movement of disaffected taxpayers is growing in this country. Millions of Americans are fed up with the current tax system, and they will bring pressure on Congress.”

Senator Ted Cruz was not the only Republican presidential contender to take a poke at President Obama. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie pondered why the president had appeared to distance himself from major issues impacting the country instead of fixing the problems leading. “What the h**l are we paying your for Mr. President,” Christie asked.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal also garnered intense laughter and applause when he said, “I owe an apology to former President Jimmy Carter. I can no longer say he was the worst president during my lifetime.”

What do you think about abolishing the IRS and creating a flat tax?
