Lebron James: Miami Heat Losing Because Of Jersey Sleeves [Video]

Lebron James and the Miami Heat have lost two games in a row and Lebron thinks short jersey sleeves might have something to do with it. After the Miami Heat dropped a tough game to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, the team had to travel to San Antonio for a matchup against the Spurs. Lebron James and the Heat played well in a close game against the Rockets, but Thursday night’s game was a different story.

Lebron James missed all three attempts from long distance and went six for 18 from the field as the Miami Heat got trounced 111-87 by the Spurs. In a post game interview, Lebron said of the short jersey sleeves that he is, “Not a big fan of them. I have to figure something out the next time I have to wear the short-sleeved jerseys.” The jerseys worn by the Miami Heat and other NBA teams this year are made by Adidas and players have loudly voiced their hatred of the short sleeve jerseys.

Lebron James was a mess of wardrobe malfunctions for the Miami Heat Thursday night. Frustrated with his play in the first quarter, he removed his clear plastic face mask that was protecting his broken nose. Lebron’s revelation after the game about how the jerseys affect his shooting stroke could come off as making excuses. But James says that is not the case, “I’m not making excuses, but I’m not a big fan of the jerseys. Every time I shoot it feels like it’s just pulling right up underneath my arm. I already don’t have much room for error on my jump shot. It’s definitely not a good thing.”

Whether it is short sleeve jerseys or something else, the Miami Heat and Lebron James need to right the ship. Miami Heat president Pat Riley warned the team and fans about getting lazy as the NBA season heads towards the playoffs. The last two Heat games have made him look like a prophet. Losing to the Rockets was legitimate, but Lebron James and the Heat looked pedestrian in their loss to the Spurs.

Depth is a real concern for the Miami Heat, more so than sleeved jerseys. Unable to make a meaningful move at the trade deadline or in signing a free agent like Caron Butler, the Miami Heat could be showing their age late in the season. As Lebron James fights through some bumps and bruises, the Heat are showing signs of serious vulnerability. Fortunately for the Heat, the Indiana Pacers have not been able to capitalize on the losses as they have dropped their last two also.

Do you think the short sleeve jerseys are affecting Lebron James and the Miami Heat or is it just an excuse?
