Ke$ha Out Of Rehab And ‘Feeling Healthy’

Ke$ha has left a rehabilitation facility, where she was being treated for an eating disorder. The 27-year-old singer and song-writer checked into the Chicago facility in January. Cancelling and postponing numerous shows, Ke$ha said she wanted to focus on regaining her health.

Although she took a hiatus, the talented performer said she is recovering from the disorder and “working on tons of new music.” In a message to her fans, Ke$ha expressed her thanks for the ongoing support and said that she is “happy to be back.”

A native of Los Angeles, Ke$ha was born Kesha Rose Sebert. As her mother was a songwriter, Sebert grew up surrounded by music. At the age of four, she and her family moved to Nashville.

As reported by Biography, Sebert displayed an interest in singing and songwriting at an early age. Inspired by Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, she eventually enrolled in a music school. As she developed her talent, she made a decision that would change her life. At the age of 17, Sebert dropped out of school and headed back to Los Angeles to work with producer Dr Luke.

Although she performed back-up vocals for Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, much of her early work was uncredited. Ke$ha eventually got a break, as she worked with Flo Rida on his hit “Right Round.” The songstress did not receive credit or royalties for her performance. However, her contribution gained the attention of RCA, who eventually offered her a contract.

Ke$ha’s first single “Tik Tok” was an instant hit. The party song reached number on on the pop charts and remains “one of the most downloaded songs in America.” Her first album Animal hit number 1 on Billboard’s pop chart in 2010. Her second album Warrior reached number 6.

Between 2009 and 2012, Ke$ha released seven singles that hit Billbord’s top ten, including “Die Young,” “Blow,” and “Love is My Drug.” Although she enjoyed amazing success, the singer faced a serious disorder, which threatened her health.

In January, Ke$ha revealed that she was battling a long-term struggle with bulimia. As the eating disorder can be deadly, she announced that she would seek treatment at a residential rehabilitation facility:

“I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice… I’ll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder… to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am.”

MTV reports that Ke$ha has left the Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center and is currently heading home.
