Drink A Beer Luke Bryan…Cheers To An Amazing Year!

Reigning 2013 ACM Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan will be defending his title on April 6. Bryan’s attempt to repeat will be a tall order, as his fellow nominees are Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and George Strait. A second win for Bryan would top a whirlwind of a year. A sold out tour, three number one singles on the country charts, and a collaboration with country music’s new “it” group, Florida Georgia Line.

Bryan is a long way from the peanut farm he grew up on, but he maintains strong connections to his family. In “Rain Is A Good Thing,” he quotes his Daddy:

‘My daddy spent his life lookin’ up at the sky
He’d cuss kick the dust, sayin’ son it’s way to dry
It clouds up in the city, the weather man complains
But where I come from, rain is a good thing’

‘Drink A Beer’, the third single from Bryan’s ‘Crash My Party’ CD is about the loss of his older brother Chris. Sadly, Bryan also lost his sister Kelly shortly after his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. Perhaps it was these losses that compel him to have his wife, Caroline and their two son on tour with him. ‘Do I’, the song that is considered his true break out single, was written during a troubling time in Bryan’s marriage; as he and Caroline are still happily married, one would guess they made it over that obstacle.

The year wasn’t all sunshine and roses for Bryan. Zac Brown, of the Zac Brown Band, went on record saying that Bryan’s song “That’s My Kind of Night” was the worst song he had ever heard. Jason Aldean came to Luke’s defense, saying that the song was a hit, so no one cared what Brown thought.. The song did reach number one on the country charts, so it would appear that Aldean was right, and that Luke had the last laugh on this one.

Bryan is not only nominated for Entertainer of the Year, but for Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for ‘Crash My Party’. He will also be co-hosting the ceremony with Blake Shelton. Bryan and Shelton co-hosted last year, and the pair had undeniable chemistry. Luke will also be performing, showcasing his meg watt smile and trademark tighter-than-tight pants, much to the delight of his throngs of fans. Yes, Mr. Bryan…raise a glass, drink a beer….you have had an amazing year!
