Austin Mahone’s schedule may have prevented him from participating in the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.
Now that the cast of the 18th season is officially on the open market, it’s time to discuss the celebrities who decided not to appear on DWTS for one reason or another. According to Just Jared, Mahone was one of the folks who simply couldn’t work the competition into their complicated lives.
“[Austin] wasn’t able to do it with his current schedule,” an insider recently explained to the folks at Us Weekly.
Austin Mahone wasn’t the only person to say “no” to Dancing with the Stars this season. Martha Stewart, Caroline Rhea, Travis Tritt, Clint Black, and Glee alum Heather Morris all declined to appear on the program for undisclosed reasons.
Although Mahone doesn’t have time to shake his moneymaker in front of a live studio audience, there were plenty of other celebrities who decided to take a chance on DWTS. In addition to Candace Cameron Bure and Danica McKellar, NeNe Leakes, Drew Carey, Meryl Davis, and Charlie White signed on for the program.
So why did Austin Mahone turn down DWTS? The singer is presently on-tour, which means he may not have time to properly prepare for the show. He’s also getting ready to unleash his first full-length album, a collection of songs his legion of fans have waited patiently to hear. In other words, the guy is just too busy to dance for TV.
Austin recently told The Daily Tribune that he’ll devote all of his free time to the forthcoming record when he’s finished touring. Although he originally wanted to release the record in January or February, he ultimately missed this projected release window.
“I’m about 75 percent done and I’m still trying to get all the details right,” Mahone told the publication during a recent interview.
The singer continued, “I’m a lot older now and I’m putting out more mature singles and more mature music. I feel like my fans are growing up, and I want them to grow with me, so that’s definitely a factor. It’s definitely taking a lot longer than I expected, but it’s going to be worth it. It’s gonna be really good when it comes out.”
