A snake eating croc in northern Queensland, Australia, amazed local residents; the 10-foot python fought with a crocodile for more than five hours, eventually killing it..
The epic battle took place at Lake Moondarra, and was caught on camera by a few of the local people who had turned out to watch the fight. The skirmish took place in the lake itself, and the battle of wits between the two reptiles lasted for many long hours.
A local resident, Tiffany Corlis, was brave enough to move close to the action, snapping some amazing images of the fight. She said that the snake coiled itself around the croc while in the water, but managed to keep its head above the surface to breath.
Once the snake had killed the croc, it dragged it onto dry land in order to consume it. According to onlookers, that took only 15 minutes! Tiffany Corlis spoke to reporters about the snake eating croc incident:
“(The crocodile) was fighting at the start, it was trying to keep its head out of water and survive. But as the morning progressed you could tell both of them were getting a little weaker and the struggle was going on, finally the croc sort of gave in,” she said.
Corlis didn’t think the snake would be able to eat the fully grown crocodile, but she was wrong:
“It was just unbelievable. We were thinking that the snake had bitten off a little more than it could chew. But it did. It actually ate the crocodile. [Afterwards] you could see the crocodile in the snake’s belly, you could actually see its legs and see its scales and everything. It was just amazing.”
