Baby Holding Gun In Facebook Photo Compared To Sandy Hook Shooting

A Facebook photo of a baby holding a gun has upset many, with some people comparing the situation to the Sandy Hook shooting.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, the Newtown reports also highlighted how Adam Lanza was pictured as a baby holding a gun and ammo. Then gun control advocates had a father in Ohio arrested for a photo showing him holding his baby and a BB gun at the same time.

Christopher Duffy was shopping for a rifle in Connecticut when he decided to snap a photo of his six month old daughter, Genevieve, holding the gun. Duffy simply thought the photo showed how light the rifle was, but others were alarmed when both the gun store and the father posted it on Facebook.

The picture was sent out to news networks and then soon went viral on the internet. The complaints came flooding in shortly later, with some saying, “After everything that happened in Connecticut with Sandy Hook, and everything that’s going on with the gun laws, why would you have your baby holding a gun — a big gun?”

The gun shop’s co-owner, Mike Majewski, responded to the controversy by simply saying he has no problem sharing photos on their Facebook page if “someone wants to share something with the rest of the community.” Although they did take down this particular photo, they also said, “If I post something, and it offends you… don’t cry to me. Call your mom.”

Duffy also believes his photo of a baby holding a gun was harmless:

“Other people being upset about it? I don’t force their kids to do anything. I don’t force them to do anything. My hand was on it, the bolt was open, it was safety checked. I’m not sure how wide the picture is. She’s clearly in her seat just sitting up, one hand on the scope, one hand on the barrel.”

Do you think comparisons between the Sandy Hook shooting and a photo of a baby holding a gun are fair, or do you think this is gun control advocates gone out of control?
