Steve McQueen And Michael Fassbender Dating? Rumor Claims Actor And Director In Gay Affair

Are Michael Fassbender and Steve McQueen a couple?

A rumor is circulating that the 12 Years A Slave director is dating the movie’s star, though the evidence of their supposed gay affair is fairly flimsy.

Reports of the alleged relationship have been circulating for weeks, putting married director Steve McQueen in a relationship with actor Michael Fassbender, who himself has a girlfriend. On Monday, the urban celebrity gossip site MediaTakeOut posted new evidence of the relationship taken from Sunday’s Academy Awards.

The site posted a video clip of McQueen celebrating the movie’s Best Picture win on stage. As he lifted his arms in triumph, McQueen also slides away from a woman trying to give him a kiss. According to the report, that is the first piece of evidence that McQueen is actually gay.

The rest of the evidence isn’t any more convincing. The report posts pictures showing McQueen and Fassbender kissing on the lips twice during the show, though it looked clear that both were just being friendly. Also, if the two were carrying on a secret relationship it would be a pretty big risk to expose it in front of everyone.

While Michael Fassbender and Steve McQueen may not be having a gay affair, it seems clear that the two went though a very emotional experience in filming the movie. Fassbender said his role as a brutal slave owner took a lot out of him.

“It was about finding the human being in [my character] Epps, because obviously what he does is pretty terrible, but… I don’t know, there’s something in there where I feel a little sorry for him,” Fassbender told Flicks & Bits. “He’s a victim of the time as well, in a way. He’s in love with Patsey (Lupita Nyong’o) and he can’t deal with it, he thinks, ‘How can I be in love with a slave?’ ”

Neither Michael Fassbender nor Steve McQueen have responded to the gay affair rumors, but really, why should they?
