Leonardo DiCaprio: Loses ‘Best Actor’ Oscar ‘Again’

Unfortunately Leonardo DiCaprio just doesn’t seem to be good enough to win an Oscar for “Best Actor”. Leo was nominated for “Best Actor” for his role in The Wolf Of Wall Street, but instead the award went to Matthew McConaughey for his role in Dallas Buyer’s Club. Leo was the favored actor to win in the category against Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, Bruce Dern, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. But it was a huge surprise to most that he didn’t, considering how passionate he and Martin Scorsese were about Making The Wolf Of Wall Street. This year’s Oscars makes it the fifth time Leo went home without an Oscar.

Fans of DiCaprio expressed how they felt through Twitter, and memes of the actor’s loss. Especially the moment when McConaughey walked over to hug DiCaprio, fans are making memes of what the two said to each other. There is even a fan made Twitter page called Leonardo’s Oscar, and I’m sure you can guess the tweets are making fun of DiCaprio without an Oscar. Though Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t a sore loser, and he is a phenomenal actor who has never had a bad movie in his entire career.

DiCaprio’s career skyrocketed after his phenomenal performance in Titanic. Ever since then he has been nominated for “Best Supporting Actor” for his role in the 1993 What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. In 2004 he was nominated for “Best Actor” for the Aviator, and in 2006 he was nominated for the same category for his role in Blood Diamond.

Leo was also a producer for The Wolf Of Wall Street, and if that movie won Best Picture, he also would have gotten an Oscar with the rest of his cast. Unfortunately this was not Leonardo DiCaprio’s year. Hopefully all this loss does is motivate Leo to push harder in future roles to obtain his long deserved Oscar.

The main advantage McConaughey had was the physical and mental struggles he had to go through for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. McConaughey had to lose a tremendous amount of weight to play a character who suffers from aids. Maybe all DiCaprio needs to do is go the extra mile. If you think of last year’s winner for Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis for his role as Abraham Lincoln, he had to do extensive research about Lincoln’s mannerisms to portray the role of the famous president.

DiCaprio is a popular leading actor who fans believe will continue to strive in his career, and hopefully we’ll all get to see Leonardo DiCaprio with an Oscar in his hands one day.
