Jimmy Fallon Joins Cameron Diaz in Bizarre Three-Legged Pants Dance [Video]

Jimmy Fallon has officially seized the reins of The Tonight Show from Jay Leno, and the first couple of weeks of his version of the show have been quite entertaining. The recent Cameron Diaz appearance was no exception, as Fallon engaged his guest in a three-legged pants dance challenge.

Fallon and Diaz were forced to share a pair of pants that featured three legs, with a large middle sneaker included for good measure. The logistics of this dance obviously present some difficulties, but Jimmy and Cameron were able to give it a go.

Fallon and his very game guest dance partner were required to choose assorted dances from the ‘Velvety Dance Bag’. The first dance chosen was the ‘Roger Rabbit’, which proved to be a bit of a problem for Jimmy and Cameron, as this dance demands movements that are problematic when sharing a pair of pants.

The second dance emerging from the bag of fun was ‘Twerking’, which of course immediately call to mind Miley Cyrus. Fallon and Diaz fared much better with these moves and gyrations, as they are relatively simple to execute, even when sharing a pair of pants.

The third and final dance was the ‘Mick Jagger’, a dance that involves more improvisation and upper body gesturing. This was probably the most successful of the three attempts. Fallon used to do a decent Mick Jagger impression back in the day on Saturday Night Live, and decided to dust it off for the segment.

Fallon has booked a virtual galaxy of stars for the beginning of his run as The Tonight Show host, and the ratings certainly reflect it. Fallon’s debut, which featured Will Smith and U2 among others, drew some huge numbers, matching Conan O’Brien’s first show in 2009 during his brief run as host, and eclipsing Jay Leno’s numbers for his first show after returning in 2010. Fallon’s overall numbers for his first week were stout, with the Nielson ratings reflecting an average of 10.42 million viewers, representing the largest audience for the show since the Johnny Carson era.

The Fallon version of The Tonight Show is featuring the same energy and enthusiasm that Jimmy formerly brought to his old late night show. It also helps to book guests who are good sports with a sense of humor, with Paul Rudd, Justin Timberlake, and even First Lady Michelle Obama engaging in some good-natured fun.

It should be interesting to see if Fallon can maintain this level of energy and entertainment value down the road. Will the novelty of the Fallon Tonight Show wear off, or can Jimmy continue to hold America’s late night interest?
