Kanye West recently debuted the trailer for a motion picture based on his Yeezus world tour. The movie is reportedly headed to theaters very soon.
Say what you will about the man’s music, but he certainly knows how to make an impression. The trailer for Yeezus showcases some very striking visuals from West’s tour, including shots of the performer’s many elaborate masks. There’s also a few wild horses thrown in for good measure.
It’s worth noting that this is not the motion picture Kanye West based on the rapper’s life. That project, which was reportedly scripted by American Psycho mastermind Bret Easton Ellis, is an entirely different cinematic beast altogether.
Helmed by veteran music video director Hype Williams, Yeezus apparently follows West during his tour across the globe. Since there’s very little information about the project floating around the internet as of this writing, it’s unclear just how far behind-the-scenes the film will go.

It seems West is desperate to break into the world of filmed entertainment. In addition to directing two short films, he tried to get an HBO sitcom off the ground back in 2008. Unfortunately for the rapper, the project was quickly rejected after executives received the pilot.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Kanye contacted Bret Easton Ellis to pen a script for a movie the writer described as existing in “Kanye Land.” Although he was hesitate to tackle the project, the author ultimately changed his mind after listening to West’s latest album.
Ellis told Vice:
“He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to ‘Yeezus.’ It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy, and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So f*** it, I said yes. And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.”
So what is Kanye West’s narrative film all about? According to anonymous sources, the film will tell the rapper’s life story. The question remains: How big of a role will Kim Kardashian play in said motion picture?
“It’s going to be based on the ‘Yeezus’ album. That’s pretty much a narrative of Kanye’s life. They’re still working on the script, so it’s unclear at this point if Kim will be a major star of the movie or making a smaller cameo but her role in the movie will be pivotal,” the insider dished.
