The Flash: First Photo Of Grant Gustin As Berry Allen Surface

The first photo of Grant Gustin as The Flash has been officially released by CW. And yes, there is a lightning bolt on the side of his mask.

Originally reported by The Inquisitr that Gustin from Glee would portray Berry Allen, the initial snapshot only reveals him wearing the iconic mask. There is, at this moment, no news of any more pictures that were or will be released.

From first impressions, ranging from prominent entertainment site Entertainment Weekly, to more comic-based site SuperHeroHype, people have been mostly positive about the costume. Along with the inclusion of the lightning bolt logo, the color scheme is of a darker shade of red, probably maroon or crimson. The wings attached at the temples of the mask have been removed. A chin guard has been added, which may make speaking a little difficult. Finally, there are reports that the suit is made of leather which seems to look the material used in the picture.

The costume itself received the full-star treatment in its creation. It was created by three-time Oscar winner, Colleen Atwood. She is recently known for designing the costumes for another superhero show on the CW, Arrow. Her credits also include Alice in Wonderland and Chicago. The Flash arrives from co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kriesberg who, along with Geoff Johns, will write the pilot for the show. The director for the Arrow pilot, David Nutter, will direct.

Production on The Flash pilot starts next week.
