Liam Payne Doesn’t Think Social Media Is Good For The Children

Liam Payne thinks children spend too much time on social media.

If anyone can testify about the amount of time kids spend on sites like Twitter and Facebook, it’s definitely the One Direction singer. Fans spend countless hours trying to get the band members to follow them, attempts that sometimes involve bizarre threats and endless begging. It’s definitely a little alarming.

Payne’s recent interview with Top of the Pops magazine included an interesting bit about the social media addiction. In Liam’s humble opinion, kids waste away their days on these sites when they could be having an enormous amount of fun doing other stuff.

“When I think about it, I do start to worry about this whole social media thing. It does make me uncomfortable; kids should be out, living their lives, getting out and enjoying themselves,” the singer told the publication.

Doing a search for Liam Payne on Twitter definitely turns up some interesting posts. One Direction fans are a determined and obsessive lot, especially when it comes to getting the singers to follow them back. Others are quick to lash out at anyone who breathes a negative word in their favorite member’s general direction.

Not surprisingly, Liam often has trouble wrapping his head around the attention he and his buddies receive from the public. Although you’d think Payne would find this stuff normal after all this time, the singer still feels that fandom is a little overwhelming.

“It’s surreal and I don’t think any of us have got our heads around it. It’s amazing. It’s crazy. It’s like nothing we ever thought would happen, but it’s also just weird. The performing, the writing, the albums — all of that is just more incredible than you could ever imagine,” he explained.

Although he does worry about the children and the time they spend on social media, Liam Payne and his fellow singers are focusing their energies on a brand new album. A release date isn’t available as of this writing, but apparently it’s definitely in the works.

“People say we don’t work hard and it’s all a game and whatever. We just wanna make good music, and this album — honestly, every lad out there tonight who’s thinking One Direction are this and that. Literally, next album — pick up our album and see what you feel,” he recently explained to Capital FM.
