McDonald’s Lawsuit: Customer Seeks $1.5 Million For Missing Napkin

A McDonald’s meal turned out unhappy all because of napkins or lack thereof.

A dissatisfied McDonald’s customer is reportedly suing the fast-food chain for $1.5 million because he only got perhaps just one napkin with his Quarter Pounder Deluxe purchase.

The “messy” incident in question allegedly occurred in a McDonald’s restaurant in Pacoima, Calif., on January 29.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit claims that when he went back to the counter of the Los Angeles area store to request more napkins, the store manager refused him because he supposedly already had some.

The lawsuit filed by customer Webster Lucas also contains a racial allegation, TMZ reports: “According to his lawsuit, Lucas — who is black — then retorted, ‘I should have went to eat at the Jack-in-the-Box because I didn’t come here to argue over napkins. I came here to eat.’ That’s when Lucas says things got racist — claiming the manager (a Mexican-American) mumbled something about ‘you people’. ”

In an email exchange with the restaurant’s general manager (who also apologized for the unsatisfactory service), Lucas claimed that he was unable to work as a result of mental anguish and intentional infliction of emotional distress caused by the alleged napkin-withholding store manager. He reportedly turned down an offer of free burgers (presumably accompanied by a sufficient quantity of napkins) to settle the matter.

As far as the $1.5 million legal case over the napkin denial, a McDonald’s representative said that “We understand this customer was disappointed with his visit. We have made every effort to make it right for him. We are not aware of a lawsuit.”

In other fast-food legal news, a woman is suing Dunkin’ Donuts after she was allegedly badly burned by a container of hot apple cider with an unsecured lid.

Do you think that one napkin is enough for a McDonald’s Quarter Pounder Deluxe?
