Kendrick Lamar Added To ITunes Festival SXSW Schedule

Rapping sensation Kendrick Lamar has been added to yet another festival. It was announced that Lamar, who has blown up considerably since his Grammy snubs, is now heading to Texas for the SXSW film festival. During the festival iTunes and Apple are sponsoring a concert, and has just decided to add Lamar to the set list.

Not only will Kendrick Lamar attend the iTunes Festival concert, but he’s set to headline his date on March 12. Lamar will be joined by friend and colleague Schoolboy Q and Isaiah Rashad. For those who are not fans of hip hop or Kendrick Lamar, the line up is favorably leaning in the pop/rock direction, including bands like Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, and Soundgarden.

Although Kendrick is headlining on March 12, we’re expecting him to make an appearance during Imagine Dragons’ set list, especially for the song “Radioactive.” Since giving a rousing performance with the band on Grammy night, Kendrick has joined the band on stage for their first appearance on Saturday Night Live. The pair of dynamic artists also dropped the remix single with Lamar’s verse on the song.

Kendrick Lamar who is being compared to great hip hop artists like Kanye West, has already forged great relationships in the business. As we reported the other day, Kendrick tipped his hat off to another rising talent in the hip hop world Schoolboy Q. The praise happened quite unexpectedly during Kendrick’s Power 106 interview.

During the interview the rapper admitted that Schoolboy Q’s album Oxymoron, which shot up to the Billboard 200 charts, was a favorite of his. At the time Lamar called it a “classic gangsta rap album.”

“We don’t get too many albums out on this side of town, so when you got a crazy album like Q and the fact that it’s from over here. You gotta respect it from everywhere.”

During the revealing interview Kendrick discussed how the process was with his friend before they both “blew up.”

“Thinking back to when we were all in the studio, planning these strategies out, starving together and really waiting for the day to come, for my album to drop, for his album to drop. Now it came and it’s like n****s really, really put in the work and dedication, so I’m proud from the jump. When I first met Q, he wasn’t rappin’. He was on some other stuff.”

For those who want to catch Kendrick Lamar during the iTunes concert you will have to enter in a lottery.
