Julianne Moore Says She’s ‘Very Happy’ For Co-Star Ellen Page

Julianne Moore is extremely happy for her Freeheld co-star Ellen Page.

If you had the internet turned off for the past several days, then you may have missed the news that Page decided to tell the world that she’s a lesbian. The actress received praise from a number of celebrities, including Julianne Moore.

The Crazy, Stupid, Love star briefly discussed Ellen’s decision to come out during a chat with E! Online. Not surprisingly, Moore was nothing but supportive about the actress’ decision.

“It was really wonderful. I was very happy for her,” Julianne said.

Moore co-stars with Page in the upcoming drama Freeheld, a film that finds the actresses portraying same-sex partners. Julianne plays a detective who can’t get insurance to cover her girlfriend’s cancer treatment. Director Peter Sollett will helm the project, which is reportedly in pre-production.

If you need some Julianne Moore in your cinematic diet this weekend, then you’re definitely in luck. Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra’s thriller Non-Stop hits theaters across the country Friday (February 28), a flick that finds Moore co-starring with action hero Liam Neeson.

Haven’t heard of this one? Here’s the official synopsis:

“During a transatlantic flight from New York City to London, U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks (Neeson) receives a series of cryptic text messages demanding that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Until he secures the money, a passenger on his flight will be killed every 20 minutes.”

If this kind of movie sounds beneath someone of Julianne Moore’s caliber, then you’ve completely misjudged the actress. She recently told Metro that she occasionally enjoys making this sort of motion picture.

“I like to mix it up. If I’ve done something really serious, I like to do a comedy. If I’ve done a comedy, I find a thriller that interests me. I like to accrue experience. I don’t plan these things. You can’t in this business. We have less control than we’d like,” Moore explained.

Non-Stop co-star Liam Neeson seems to think very highly of the actress. He said, “Julianne is one of our great screen actresses. We were so lucky to have her in this part. The first draft I read of it, the passenger beside me is quite a bland part. When I heard they were going to ask Julianne, I was like, ‘No way is she going to do this.'”

Are you a fan of Julianne Moore? Do you plan to catch her in Non-Stop and the upcoming drama Freeheld?
