Al Roker Pans Conan O’Brien, Compares TBS To IBS

Al Roker has dissed Conan O’Brien during a radio interview, comparing the gangly comedian’s current network, TBS, to irritable bowel syndrome.

Roker made the bizarre quip during a discussion on Stand Up! With Pete Dominick. After Roker was asked about a Facebook post that he uploaded last April, which criticized the talk show host, he added further fire to the flame by declaring, “When he gets back on television, I think he’s going to have a great career.”

Roker continued his bombardment by insisting that he thought TBS, the station on which O’Brien’s Conan show is broadcast, was “this web thing,” before he dismissed the station as not being “real TV.”

“Doesn’t that sound like a disease?” he teased. Domenick then explained to television’s most famous meteorologist that he was referring to IBS, irritable bowel syndrome. “Same kind of thing,” Roker added before he then joked that watching O’Brien’s current network was just as painful as suffering from the excruciating disease.

Domenick then reminded Roker that he has, in the past, actually been the subject of a number of O’Brien’s jokes, some of which teased that he suffered from IBS at the White House back in 2002. This lead the Today Show host to state that O’Brien was a “lovely man, but very bitter.”

The social media comment from Roker in question came after the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, and it stated, “Conan O’Brien read his jokes in front of 2,700 in the room, doubling the audience who watch his show.”

Roker wasn’t done too, because he also went on to add, “Conan was weirdly off, almost never looking up. You’d think you might want to rehearse a little more before a big night like that.”

However, things didn’t always used to be so sour between the pair. Roker actually holds the record for the most ever appearances on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien, as he was a guest on the show over 30 times. Roker was often hired to appear as a replacement for any scheduled guest star that canceled at the very last minute, which he was able to do because he worked across the hall.

It seems as though Roker can’t stop himself from launching vicious attacks at the moment. Last month he also criticized New York City mayor Bill de Blasio’s snow removal attempts, as well as his handling of school closings, during the recent spate of dire weather in the Big Apple.
