Amish Mafia Star John Schmucker In Jail… Or Is This Fake, Too?

Right before Amish Mafia Season 3 begins, star John Schmucker has been charged and sentenced for a suspended driver’s license. Some people may whether this is another reason to call Amish Mafia fake.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, a snake handling pastor was ironically killed by a snake bit in another reality TV show called Snake Salvation.

This is not the first time an Amish Mafia TV star has been imprisoned. Last year Alan Beiler was sentenced to jail before season 2 even began.

In the past the Amish Mafia TV show has been blasted as pure fiction. The Discovery Channel claims it’s a reality TV show but they also start each show with a disclaimer stating the Amish church denies the very existence of this group. Experts who have watched the Amish for many years claim they have never heard of any Amish mafia in real life.

Donald Weaver-Zercher, a professor at Elizabethtown College, says he thinks it’s unbelievable how the show depicts an Amish mafia driving around in cars and blackmailing bishops:

“When I first saw the trailer [for the show], I thought maybe it was a ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit on reality television because it was so far fetched. My sense is this Amish mafia is about as real as the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in The Office.”

Well, it’s possible the reenactments of the supposed Amish mafia are fake, but the arrest of John Schmucker is anything but fake. He’s supposedly been driving around without a license, and this was the tenth time he was caught, so now a judge has ordered him to serve three months in the slammer. It’s not yet been announced how this will affect filming of Amish Mafia Season 4.
