Pharrell Williams’ Awesome Grammy Hat Up For Auction

If you remember anything about the Grammys Pharrell Williams’ big brown hat is probably it. The singer-producer, who walked away with four Grammy wins for his song with Daft Punk made a huge splash as he wore his hat throughout the night.

Pharrell’s hat spawned a fun viral meme, including its very own Twitter account, which Williams’ basked in the day after his Grammys high. Now, a few weeks later Pharrell’s hat is up for auction, and you too, can own the hat that grabbed all the headlines at the Grammys, if you wish.

Since the singer debuted the hat on the Grammys it has been compared to Woody’s hat in Toy Story, Smokey The Bear’s hat, and the most famous comparison is of course, the Arby’s logo.

The Mountain style hat that fashioned as a tribute can be owned by one lucky person for a high enough price. Williams broke the news that his hat will be up for auction via his Twitter, which is where most of the buzz started about his odd choice of ensemble. “I’m auctioning off my hat from the Grammys to benefit From One Hand to AnOTHER,” the singer tweeted.

Williams proved that he was still in on his “Arby’s hat” joke, while tweeting at the official Arby twitter, “Hey @Arbys, you want my hat? Now’s your chance.” That wasn’t the only tweet Williams sent out to Arby’s. Following the Grammy night he took Arby’s bait when they tweeted at his account, and the two engaged in a friendly battle over the famous Grammy hat.

Even though the singer was up for making jokes about his hat, the hat itself was an oversized homage to a 1982 hat worn by Malcolm McLaren and the World’s Famous Supreme Team in a music video. As previously reported, the track “Buffalo Girls” is a throwback to the 1844 song “Buffalo Gals” which in its day was famous for being performed in Blackface by John “Cool White” Hodges.

The Grammys isn’t the only place Pharrell wore the hat around. Earlier in the month Williams took the hat out on the town while in London. According to HipHopWired, Pharrell had a grey version of the hat on, while on a date with his wife.

As of Friday evening the highest bigger for the hat so far is marked at $11,600.00. According to the eBay listing, From One Hand To AnOTHER is a nonprofit that changes children’s lives by, “giving them the tools and resources to meet their unique potential and empower them to nurture curiosity by learning through new technologies, arts, media and motivation.”

All proceeds will go to the foundation that Williams is supporting.
