Imagine Dragons Rock Their Way Into Billboard History With ‘Radioactive’

One of the hottest rock bands in the world, the Imagine Dragons have been chart toppers since 2012. However, it has now been confirmed that they have broken a Billboard chart record to add to their list of accomplishments. Their hit song Radioactive managed to spend 77 weeks on the Billboard Top 100 chart, and there is no sign of it disappearing.

To help break that down for you, that is a total of one and a half years involved in the chart. That is absolutely crazy if you ask me.The last time the Billboard Chart had something this big was back in 2008 to 2009 with Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” hit that lasted 76 weeks.

Like the Dragons, Mraz saw massive success after his hit song. The Imagine Dragons have gone out to do well with other songs outside of Radioactive to prove they are not 1 hit wonders. This makes them respectable.

The full length “Night Visions” album that contains Radioactive has sold 2.1 million copies and sits #6 on the charts currently. Meanwhile Radioactive has been downloaded 6.6 million times on it’s own. It’s safe to assume that the Dragons aren’t hurting for money lately.

Radioactive was nominated for a Grammy at the Grammy Awards recently, but lost to Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”. Most thought this was one of the dumbest and most controversial wins in Grammy history. Of course, there were some other controversial wins at the Grammy Awards as well. The song did win in the rock category however, so some controversy is gone with that.

The Dragons have gone on to have other successful songs such as “Demons”, “On Top of the World”, “It’s Time”, and “Bleeding Out”.

While they will always be remembered for Radioactive, it is good to know that they continue to come out with music we can enjoy.

Some are calling Imagine Dragons the best rock group in America today. This could be a big oversell, but to some this is as accurate as the grass being green and the sky being blue. Many feel that they are bound for greatness. If their last album “Night Visions” wasn’t enough, there is some speculation that a new album could be out by some point this year or next.

They have already started work on it, and they are seeking for it to be perfect. That might be a lot to ask of themselves. Although the last album and EPs have done really well, you cannot expect an album to be perfect. The last album was brilliant and I’m sure they didn’t sweat it much.

Obviously when you have success with you material, it forces you to hit another level. A lot of stress can be involved with that as well. In my opinion though, they will put out another good one. I expect that album will also have some top hits as well.

It seems that their Billboard record is not the last one the Imagine Dragons intend to break. So they are surely a band to keep your eye on in the coming years.
